Efficient HVAC Maintenance

With the fear of high electricity bills and potential electrical problems, comes our denial of installing an HVAC unit we need. Some people refuse to install air conditions or any other cooling appliances and systems. One must keep in mind that cooling systems are actually pretty helpful in keeping them calm and cool, which may prevent probable health problems.

Saving money and conserving energy is actually pretty good, considering the continuous increase in daily needs such as gas, electricity and the likes, but one must not compromise their health in the hopes of saving a few bucks. Those savings will actually vaporize in a matter of minutes when you’re already lying on a hospital bed due to heat-related sickness.

Cooling systems have proven themselves as effective in improving the quality of life. It gives us the right amount of chills after a long summer day and it can help us keep our cool and well, provide us with comfort when the blazing heat of the sun is above us. These cooling systems, however, if left unattended and are taken for granted, may malfunction and cause bigger problems. Despite it being a cooling system, it also needs to cool down, reboot and be tuned up from time to time for it to stay in its best condition.

Although your first thought for cooling may be air conditioning, there are many alternatives that provide cooling with less energy use. A combination of proper insulation, energy-efficient windows and doors, daylighting, shading, and ventilation will usually keep homes cool with a minimum of energy use in all but the hottest climates. Although ventilation should be avoided in hot, humid climates, other approaches can significantly reduce the need to use air conditioning. Before choosing a cooling system, you may want to familiarize yourself with the principles of heating and cooling.

COOLING TIPS

  • Set your programmable thermostat as high as is comfortable in the summer, and raise the setpoint when you're sleeping or away from home.
  • Clean or replace filters on air conditioners once a month or as recommended.
  • Turn off kitchen, bath, and other exhaust fans within 20 minutes after you are done cooking or bathing; when replacing exhaust fans, consider installing high-efficiency, low-noise models.
  • During summer, keep the window coverings closed during the day to block the sun's heat.

Your system’s air filter must be changed every three months and checked at least once a month to see if it already needs to be changed. But, some professionals also suggest that if you can change your filter every 30 days, the better.

A dirty filter may cause a lot of health problems because of the fact that instead of cleaning the air, pollutants remain in the air that we breathe.

A key difference between our washable air filters and a disposable one is that our filters have an electrostatic charge. Which means, our filter media (with the help of airflow) attracts dust to the surface area of the filter. When dust builds up, the airflow causes the dust to break off into our exclusive Accumulator Chamber.

Washable air filters can help improve the indoor air quality within commercial environments and offer you the least cost over a useful filter life. Washable air filters work best for filtering particles visible or invisible to the naked eye; 0.5 microns or larger.

Although washable air filters are initially a bit more expensive than disposable air filters, they last longer. So you’re basically trading off longevity over price short-term. You will save more money with a washable filter, even though it is more costly up front, this type of filter will pay for itself in the long run.

One thing we can do is to check the area that surrounds our unit outdoors. If there are grasses anywhere near the unit, keep it short. Some pests use tall grasses as their home and they might use to propagate, thus creating an even bigger problem. We must also eliminate weeds throughout the growing season. Fallen leaves are common during the autumn season. It is very important to remove fallen leaves and other debris which may damage your system as they may serve as homes and food for pests and they may enter the unit.

It also blocks the airflow which causes your HVAC system to work harder than usual to get the desired temperature right. It uses more power and it allows dirt, dust, pollen, mold and other contaminants to enter your HVAC system.
